Most mornings begin with a walk towards Apollo Bay, a run along Marengo Beach or a section of the Great Ocean Walk towards Shelly Beach before work.
One of the things I enjoy most is watching the day begin. Even in the cooler months, you’ll often see people heading into the ocean for an early swim or dip, while others walk, stretch or simply enjoy the beach as the morning light arrives.
There’s something about this coastline that makes it easy to spend time outdoors, whatever the season.
If I’m up early, I’ll often take my coffee onto the covered east-facing balcony off the master bedroom and watch the sunrise over the Marengo Reefs Marine Sanctuary, the rock pools and the Southern Ocean.
By the time I sit down to work, I’m ready to focus on what matters most.
A Workspace That Changes With Your Day
One of the things I enjoy most is being able to change where I work throughout the day. Marengo Views has two separate work areas, plus a covered balcony and ocean deck that can be useful for lighter laptop work when conditions suit.
Rather than sitting in the same place from morning until evening, I can choose a setting that suits the task, the time of day and even the light.

Both levels have split-system heating and cooling, so whether it’s a warm summer afternoon or a wild winter’s day on the coast, there’s a comfortable indoor place to work.
Better Breaks. Better Thinking.
Whenever I need a short break, I’ll usually head downstairs to make a coffee and look out across the deck towards the Marengo Reefs Marine Sanctuary.
The view changes constantly, and there is usually something different to notice along the coastline.
Seals: often seen around the nearby reef and sanctuary
Surfers: catching waves around Marengo Point when conditions are right
Walkers: following the nearby Great Ocean Walk
Coastal activity: kayakers, anglers and other water users depending on the weather and sea conditions
Offshore activity: fishing boats and other vessels occasionally passing through the wider bay
Rock pools: families exploring the shoreline around low tide
A few minutes away from the screen is often enough to reset before heading back to the next meeting or task.
One of the biggest differences I notice when working from Marengo Views is how much easier it can be to find uninterrupted time to focus. The quieter coastal setting, fresh air and flexibility to move between the two work areas — or step outside for a break — help create some distance from the usual routine.
I often finish the day feeling that I’ve had more space to think, solve problems and concentrate on the work that needs real attention, rather than simply moving from one notification or meeting to the next.
Work, Then Truly Switch Off
One of my favourite routines is walking a section of the Great Ocean Walk towards Shelly Beach. Sometimes I’ll head out before the workday begins. Other days I’ll finish a little earlier and walk in the late afternoon.
The changing light, sound of the waves and fresh sea air make it easier to leave the workday behind before heading home for dinner.

Practical for Couples and Families
Marengo Views works particularly well for couples who both need to work remotely. One person can use the upstairs ocean-view desk for calls and everyday laptop work while the other uses the quieter downstairs workstation with the 34-inch monitor, webcam, keyboard and mouse.
That gives both guests a separate place to concentrate without competing for the dining table or working around each other’s meetings.
Travelling during the school holidays? The same setup makes it easier to join morning meetings or finish a few hours of work before closing the laptop and spending the rest of the day exploring Marengo Beach, Apollo Bay, the Great Ocean Walk or the Otways together.
